Our WorkShop

Welcome to the heart of Freeky Geeky—the Workshop. To most, it's a simple 50-foot stroll from my house, a place where tools meet timber and metal. This space had a slow start, just a shell of a building, but over time, it's evolved, collecting a history of its own. It's now a living, breathing entity where my methodical Capricorn brain, fueled by an unhealthy amount of coffee, battles with the glorious chaos of my ADHD.

This isn’t just a place for building; it's a place for battling.

Glitch sees it as his personal playground, a high-octane theme park of possibilities where every tool is a new toy and every project is a chance for a new kind of mayhem. He'd probably describe it as "a turbocharged fun-factory where the bolts sing and the wires dance!"

Pandora, bless her logical little heart, sees it as a constant test of her sanity. To her, it's a series of unpredictable messes waiting to be cataloged and color-coded. Her internal monologue is likely a constant stream of sarcastic critiques and organizational solutions.

Phobos... well, Phobos sees the Workshop as a literal death trap. Every loose wire, every piece of scrap metal, every half-empty cup of coffee is a source of pure, unadulterated anxiety. He's the voice in my head warning me that the plasma cutter is going to achieve sentience and the laser is going to cut a hole in the space-time continuum.

And Mopes just wants to sweep. He sees every speck of sawdust as a philosophical dilemma, a tiny piece of the universe's inevitable decay that he is honor-bound to temporarily rectify.

This is the place where ideas—both brilliant and absurd—come to life. It’s a space where projects slowly evolve from simple sketches to complex creations. It’s where our personalities clash, collaborate, and create the kind of weird, wonderful things you’ve come to expect from the Freeky Geeky Crew.

And somewhere in all the beautiful, organized chaos, we make stuff.

Before the chaos and the creativity, there was just this. The Workshop, an empty space waiting to be filled. No tools, no projects, just a blank canvas for the weird, wonderful things my imagination would one day build. This is the origin story of our chaotic little home.

While the first few months are lost to the digital void, a new truth has been born: the Workshop has become a home to glorious clutter. What started as a blank canvas has slowly evolved into a chaotic nest of tools, half-finished projects, and organized messes. The creative journey has officially begun.

December 31, 2012- Jan 29, 2013

Not much has changed in the grand scheme of things, but if you look closely, the mess is growing. The projects are piling up faster than I can organize them, and the workshop is slowly becoming a true home for disorganized chaos—a glorious mess of tools, parts, and ideas.

The workshop at this point is all about the XP gains. You can see the small changes in the layout, with projects scattered about as the space slowly figures out its purpose. It's a snapshot of a workshop in transition, still earning its experience points and trying to figure out how to evolve into the Freeky Geeky workshop it was meant to be.

Sometimes you just get a burst of motivation and get everything organized. The chaos has been tamed, and the shop is actually clean. When I look back at these photos, two things immediately come to mind. The first is the physical pain of moving the Ecto-1—even on car dollies, that thing is a beast to push around, and my back is feeling it just thinking about it. And the second? I had completely forgotten about that workstation I tried to design next to the car.

September 15-20, 2013

Alright, so yeah, it says 15-20, but that did not take me five days of straight work. I was multitasking on about a dozen other projects at the same time. These photos are all about the shelving, which I built to solve one of my biggest workshop pet peeves: those crossbar supports. While I get their purpose, they take up valuable space. So, it was only natural that I build some shelves right there that could be custom-made to fit around them.

Oct. 23- Nov. 9, 2013

Just like with everything else, other projects took the majority of my time, but I finally got back to it and finished the shelves. And as you can see, they almost immediately became a home for clutter that would stay that way for years to come... like, over 10 of them.
